ON_Discourse is a global network of technology, business and innovation leaders, investors and entrepreneurs pursuing perspective, connections and business opportunities through the discipline of discourse. The community was launched in the summer of 2023 by Dan Gardner, Toby Daniels, Michael Treff, and Larry Muller in the summer of 2023. That winter, I joined the team to help discover their visual language under the guidance of Dan Gardner and Toby Daniels.
The work featured here spans a custom content feed built to collate the breadth of the company’s offerings including articles, events, and member announcements, as well as social assets and article design. I created all the original art with a combination of Midjourney and Photoshop.

Card Members and prospect card members of American Express can sign up to receive a weekly newsletter from Departures magazine.
To optimize the newsletter sends, the art, audience development, and product teams collaborated on a modular system to create custom newsletters on a weekly basis.
The dozen modules can be combined into reading experiences encompassing editorial stories, ecommerce links, and partner collaborations.

To support growing guides content on Departures, the team developed a landing page template to allow for streamlined organization of all a location’s article pages and related ecommerce recommendations. Prior to the landing pages, a user would either find a guide via a direct link, search engine, or organically navigating the site. The template was built in modules to make each landing page customizable to the location.

Departures collaborates with brands to create limited edition product offers a few times a year. The creative team produces placements across print, digital, newsletter, and paid social to sell these collectable items.

For the winter 2023 issue of Departures magazine, Hilton partnered with our team to craft a story highlighting their three luxury brands. We commissioned local photographers Matt Dutile, Yashrib Ahmed, and De Waal Rautenbach to capture first-person perspectives of three properties in DC, the Seychelles, and Maldives. Six additional properties were also highlighted throughout and used provided imagery. The story was designed for both print and digital, and thirty original photos were made to be added to Hilton’s brand libraries.
